Guided tour of the month: Domestic and wild animals in the collection and special exhibition
It's all about art, nature, animals and community in Faaborg Museum's current special exhibition, which presents 200 years of hunting motifs in Danish art.
The exhibition presents around 60 hunting-related artworks by a wide range of Danish artists such as Jens Juel, J.F. Willumsen, Johannes Larsen, Peter Land and Kathrine Ærtebjerg.
By showing how the hunting motif has been treated over the past 200 years, you can see the changing times' relationship with topics such as nature and naturalness, animal welfare, biodiversity and sustainability.
The people, animals and landscapes of hunting are depicted in beautiful, thought-provoking and humorous ways in painting, sculpture and art on paper. The works are combined with cultural and natural history artefacts from the world of hunting, as well as short films in which four hunters talk about their lives with hunting.
The artists include both hunters with an in-depth knowledge of the animals and landscapes of the hunt and non-hunters who look at hunting with the more puzzled gaze of an outsider.
Admission to the museum: Adults: DKK 100,- Children: Free of charge
