Explore Ærøskøbing, one of Denmark's best-preserved 18th-century towns and awarded the Europa Nostra Award for the Preservation of European Cultural Heritage.
Founded in the Middle Ages, the town flourished into a significant seafaring town during the mid-18th century. However, 60% of the houses in the historic city were built during the Second Golden Age from 1840-1910.
Stroll through the old town with its cobbled streets, climbing roses and small, well-preserved houses.
Visit the Old Shipyard at the harbour and try your hand at traditional crafts such as blacksmithing in the blacksmith's forge, beating ropes on the rope course and sawing, sanding or hammering in the wood workshop.
