Tour 15: Island life and smack dinghies on Strynø
Strynø is full of character. Despite its small size, the island has around 200 permanent residents, its own daycare centre, a school, a grocery store and several businesses.
Strynø has a variety of associations and traditions, including Majtræsfesten - a tradition dating back to the Middle Ages - and an annual literature festival. Crossing from Rudkøbing takes 30 minutes by ferry.
At the Smakkecenter on Strynø, several different dinghies are on display, and the history of the smack dinghy is told in words and pictures. Here, you can also rent a dinghy and explore the sea on your own. There are several different accommodation and eating options on the island.
