The composer Carl Nielsen was born in central funen. Visit Carl Nielsen's childhood home and get a sensory experience of his childhood. Not far from his childhood home you'll find the amazing Tarup-Davinde Nature Area.

Carl Nielsen was born on the outskirts of Nørre Lyndelse. His upbringing in central Funen was characterised by the area’s thriving folk music scene. At the age of six, he first tried his hand at the violin, and at the age of nine he wrote his first polka. Visit Carl Nielsen's childhood home and get a sensory experience of his Funen childhood. You won't feel like you're entering a museum, but a home. Take a seat in the furniture and notice the smell of tobacco and the resin used to lubricate violin strings.

Not far from the composer's childhood home we find the amazing Tarup-Davinde - an outdoor area with rich nature and many clean groundwater lakes stemming from about 100 years of gravel digging. In this man-made landscape, lakes are framed by grassy meadows, small forests and scrub. Here, you can enjoy a picnic, swim, fish, spend the night, cook over a campfire or just go for a walk and enjoy the nature.
